Book Expert Online is a searchable database that provides information about books with Reading Counts! quizzes.  Search by title, author, grade level, Lexile measure and other criteria to find information about books in the program.  This is the best way to find out the lexile and point value of books before you read them.

Reading Counts is an independent reading program used to encourage students to grow as readers.  The program is tailored to each student allowing teachers to help all students to stretch and strengthen their reading muscles.  Students will be asked to read within a Lexile range based on their Reading Inventory.  Grades 2-5 are assigned a point goal and grades 6-8 are assigned a books read goal each quarter.   Each book is lexiled and assigned a point value based on length and difficulty of the text.  When a student successfully passes the quiz, they earn the points for the book or credit for a book read.

Reading Inventory is an assessment used to determine a student's independent reading level, reported in a Lexile measure.  In order to track growth, plan for instruction and adjust each student's Reading Counts goal, we administer it to students in grades 2 - 8 three times each year.  Teachers will communicate with students how and when to take this assessment.

Meet your librarian...

Hello!  My name is Mrs. Sullivan and I have the pleasure of being the librarian at St. Gregory Catholic School.  Welcome to our library!   I am here to assist you in person on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week.  I have two goals I strive to excel at each year...to connect you to good books and to ignite within you a love of reading!

I graduated from the University of Dallas with a BA in Psychology and a Concentration in Business.  I then continued on to get my post-baccalaureate degree in Elementary Education.  I started my career teaching 2nd and then 5th grade.  After staying home to raise my babies, I was excited to return to the education profession.  Moving into the role of librarian was a perfect fit for me since I am an avid reader and reading was always one of my favorite subjects to teach.  This is my 17th year as the St. Gregory librarian.  I look forward to working with you to unlock your love of reading!
